There's always been a healthy fear of magic. It was instilled by a draconian coven for over an eon for torch's sake! But even a change in regime nearly 250 years ago has yet to quell that fear. For a strange curse now plagues the world, transforming people into teraskin indistinguishable from the real monsters that roam. Though it knows no race or boundaries, non-humans and magic users are unfoundedly blamed.

Nowadays, there's only three legal methods to wielding magic. Get accepted into the exclusive mage academy to learn and serve as a conservator for life. Become a mercenary -or as they like to be called, a knight- to hunt dangerous teraskin for fortune and fame. Or the most common method --but debatably the most expensive-- pay for a magic license for each spell.

Many Encorians have learned to live their lives afraid of these "monster kind." Even more have accepted the undying prince as their savior with the end of the Teraskin Wars.

 

However, a new threat --the conquest of Verin-- reignites friction in Encoras. Tensions are higher than ever with an abrupt increase in fae refugees. Many are seizing this opportunity, both for the good and the bad.

Hope is not lost. Our heroes have chosen the fourth method: blend in and avoid getting caught. That is... after they escape. Only then can they use this time to learn forgotten magicks, forge unlikely alliances and unearth consequential secrets. At least, they're going to certainly try.
